University of Nottingham’s “Why Study?” Video Series

The Centre of Philosophy and Theology at the University of Nottingham has developed a nice series of videos about the so-called “practical” question of studying the great figures of the Western philosophical and theological tradition, namely, “Why study it at all?” Each short video is an interview of specialists in various issues and figures on the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at Nottingham.

John Milbank, “Why study Henri de Lubac?”

Simon Oliver, “Why study Thomas Aquinas?”

Tom O’Laughlin, “Why study Early Christianity?”

Karen Kilby, “Why study Hans Urs Von Balthasar?”

Anthony Thiselton, “Why study Hermeneutics?”

These videos make up only a fraction of the “Why study?” series, and together they make a nice resource for understanding the importance of studying many of the issues and fields that are dear to The Humanist Lens, among other places.
